If you’ve ever called a cleaning company and been asked “deep clean or standard?”, and hesitated because you weren’t entirely sure what you were choosing between — you are in extremely good company. It’s the most common question we get, and the industry does a poor job of explaining it.
Here’s the straightforward version.
The Short Answer
A standard clean maintains a home that is already clean. It’s surface-level and it’s fast: floors, bathrooms, kitchen surfaces, dusting, trash. Two to three hours for a typical home.
A deep clean resets a home to a baseline. It reaches everything a standard clean skips: inside the oven and refrigerator, inside cabinets, baseboards, interior windows, detailed bathroom sanitization. Four to six hours with a team of three.
The relationship between them is the part most people miss: a deep clean is not a fancier standard clean. It’s the starting point that makes standard cleans possible. You do one deep clean, and then recurring standard cleans hold the line. That’s the whole model, and it’s why most reputable companies require a deep clean before starting recurring service.

The pattern is clear once you see it: standard cleaning is horizontal surfaces at eye level and below. Deep cleaning is everything else.
Which One Do You Need?
You need a deep clean if:
- It’s been more than three months since a thorough cleaning
- You’re starting recurring service with a new company
- You’re moving in or out
- You just finished a renovation
- You’re hosting something significant
- Someone in the house has allergies and you want a genuine reset
- You look at your baseboards and feel something
A standard clean is enough if:
- You’re on a weekly or biweekly schedule already
- You had a deep clean within the last few months
- The home is generally well maintained between visits
What It Costs in Massachusetts
Cleaning prices in the Greater Boston area are driven by three things: home size, current condition, and how often you book. Anyone who quotes you a firm number without asking about all three is guessing.
For reference, our starting rates:
| Home size | Estimated starting range |
|---|---|
| 1 bed / 1 bath | $180 – $220 |
| 2 bathrooms | $220 – $280 |
| 3+ bathrooms | $300+ |
Final pricing is confirmed after evaluation, because condition genuinely matters — a three-bathroom home that’s been maintained and a three-bathroom home that hasn’t are different jobs.
What increases the price:
- Heavy buildup from deferred cleaning
- Pets (hair volume and odor treatment add real time)
- Large square footage relative to bathroom count
- Add-ons like interior windows throughout, laundry, or organization
What decreases the cost over time:
- Recurring service. After a deep clean, we can offer a flat rate for recurring visits based on how long your home actually takes to maintain — and returning clients get discounts based on frequency.
That last point is worth sitting with. The deep clean is the expensive visit. Everything after it is cheaper, because the house never falls back to the starting condition again.

Tell us the size and condition and we’ll send a personalized estimate — usually the same day.
Weekly, Biweekly, or Monthly?
Weekly — Large households, multiple pets, young children, or anyone who simply wants to never think about it.
Biweekly — The most popular choice, and for most families the right one. Frequent enough that the home never really gets dirty, spaced enough to be economical.
Monthly — Works for smaller households, couples without pets, or homes where people are out most of the day. Be aware that monthly visits sometimes need extra time, since four weeks is enough for buildup to start.
Common Questions
Do I have to be home?
No. Many clients provide access and come back to a finished home. We keep keys and codes confidential, document access instructions carefully, and limit access to assigned team members only.
Do I need to clean before the cleaners arrive?
No, though light tidying helps. Picking up toys, clothes, and clutter means more accessible surfaces, and more accessible surfaces means better results in the same amount of time.
Do you bring supplies?
Yes — all equipment and products. We can use eco-friendly options, fragrance-free products, or products you provide.
Will it be the same team every time?
We work hard to keep the same team on your home. They learn your preferences and your space, and results get better over time because of it.
What if I’m not satisfied?
Contact us within 24 hours and we’ll make it right. We’re not perfect, but we stand behind our work.
Can I customize what gets cleaned?
Yes. Rotating focus areas is common — refrigerator one visit, oven the next, inside cabinets the one after. Just tell us the priorities.
